Bayside was once home to the Matinecock Native American tribe until it was settled by English colonists in the 17th century. Many of the settlers in Flushing left their home and came here to develop a farming community.

Places you need to see in Bayside
When you visit Bayside with your Celebrity Service New York, there are a few well-known landmarks you may want to visit. Fort Trotten was built during the civil war and used until 1974. Most of the fort is now a public park and sports complex. The Straiton-Storm Cigar Factory was built in 1872 and was at one time the largest cigar manufacturer in the United States. Finally, there is the Cornell-Appleton house. This is thought to be the oldest house in Bayside.

Alley Pond Park is the second-largest park in Queens that you can visit with your Celebrity Service New York. Within the park there is an Environmental centre, museum, and animal exhibits. There are acres of playing fields, a nature trail, a bird sanctuary, bridle paths, tennis court, and picnic areas for you to enjoy while you are here. There are also a number of smaller parks in the area, including Bowne Park, Crocheron Park, Cunningham Park, Throggs Neck Park, John Golden Park, and Raymond O'Connor Field.

Since Bayside is so close to Flushing, you may want to take a visit to Shea Stadium with your Celebrity Service New York to catch a game. Baseball games start in March and run until October. Tickets to see the Mets can be purchased before the game, or through other venues such as online ticket stores. Ticket vary in cost, depending on the game category and the location of your seats. In general, they run from $70 for a platinum game in the inner field box to $5 for a value game in the upper reserved area.
